What you need to know before your visit
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton asks all patients and families, visitors, volunteers, learners and employees to be considerate of the following policies that help make our campuses the best possible place for quality care:
Latex Balloon Ban:
Out of concern for latex sensitive patients and staff, latex balloons are not permitted in the hospital.
Smoke-Free Campuses:
St. Joseph’s is committed to providing a healthy, smoke-free environment for patients, staff, volunteers, and visitors. To learn more about our smoking policy, please view the Smoke-Free Campuses policy.
Scents:
St. Joseph’s is a scent- free facility. Out of consideration for our patients, staff, and volunteers, we kindly ask that you refrain from wearing scented products while here.
Personal Belongings:
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is not able to guarantee the safe keeping of your personal items when you are admitted into our hospital or when visiting. When possible, we ask that you leave all valuable items at home when coming to our campuses, or leave your valuables with a trusted family member or friend.
Service Animals:
Registered service animals are permitted in St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Service animals are required to have identification upon entering the hospital, be at least one year old, and must have an annual certificate (not required to be carried).
Food and Drink:
Visitors are asked to consult the nursing station in the unit to inquire about whether food or drink is permitted in patient rooms.
Photography:
To protect the privacy of patients, visitors and staff, the use of recording devices are not permitted without consent. We reserve the right to review media recorded at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton to protect patient privacy. You can read a copy of our Photography and AV Recording policy here.
Social Media:
Visitors and patients are asked to respect the privacy and safety of others in our care by following our Social Media Policy when engaging on social networks featuring images or information regarding our hospital and/or patients in our care.
