Mission Legacy Awards 2025

The Mission Legacy Award is the highest honour bestowed by our organization. It recognizes individuals and teams who have made exceptional contributions to the healthcare ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton. This prestigious award celebrates those who embody our mission and values through compassionate service, innovation, and unwavering dedication.

Celebrating Excellence

This year, the Mission Legacy Award recognition ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, November 12 in the Frank Charles Miller Amphitheatre, Charlton campus, or via live broadcast below. Staff, physicians, learners, volunteers, researchers, board members and guests are invited to this memorable event.

These honourees exemplify the values instilled by our founders—the Sisters of St. Joseph—who believed deeply in serving others, especially the most vulnerable and marginalized, with dignity and compassion.
A commemorative plaque will be presented to each award recipient or their designate.

The Mission Legacy Award recognizes extraordinary individuals who have significantly contributed to the healthcare ministry of:

  • Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton
  • St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH)
  • St. Joseph's Health System (SJHS)
  • St. Joseph's Healthcare Foundation (SJH Foundation)
  • The Research Institute of St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton

Eligibility & Selection Criteria

Eligible nominees include individuals, teams or departments who have gone above and beyond in advancing the legacy and mission of our organization. This includes:

  • Employees (frontline to management)
  • Foundation Members
  • Research Institute Members
  • Physicians
  • Posthumous Candidates
  • Sisters of St. Joseph
  • Volunteer Board Members
  • Volunteers

Selection Criteria

Nominations are evaluated based on three key criteria:

  1. Living the Values – Demonstrating behaviours and attitudes aligned with St. Joe’s core values.
  2. Impact – Making a meaningful difference within the organization.
  3. Exceptionality – Standing out as a role model and embodying the best of St. Joe’s.
