Monthly feature: Dr. John Bienenstock (posthumous) 2023 Mission Legacy Award winner
Mid November we celebrated the 2023 Mission Legacy Award ceremony at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton. The Mission Legacy Award recognizes key individuals and departments / teams who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to contribute to the legacy and mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton, St. Joseph's Health System, St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton and its Foundation.
Each month we will feature a few of the award recipients to share a bit more about how they have made meaningful contributions throughout their time with our health care organization.
This month we feature Dr. John Bienenstock (posthumous).
Dr. John Bienenstock was a world-renowned expert in the fields of mucosal immunology and allergy. His exemplary leadership, ground-breaking research, and visionary initiatives have left an indelible mark on the field of medicine and healthcare globally. Among his many legacies, the work of the McMaster Brain-Body Institute, founded to integrate brain and neurosciences, including psychiatry, with more traditional clinical medicine disciplines. We recognize his outstanding career with this posthumous award.

Andrea Kinar, Carol Sweeney, Dr. Casey Wang, Dr. John Bienenstock (posthumous), Dr. Scott McCullagh, Forensic Psychiatry Program Managers, Jackie Jewell, Marnie Buchanan, Perioperative Executive Committee, Teresa Cascioli and Terri Schnurr (posthumous).
