What this program does...
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is the regional referral centre for chest medicine and thoracic surgery in the Local Health Integrated Network (LHIN) 4. The Firestone Clinic provides comprehensive outpatient care and specialized pulmonary diagnostic testing and sputum inflammometry assessment as part of the Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health.
There are a variety of sub-specialties currently housed in the Firestone Clinic:
Allergy Clinic: for allergy assessment and testing Severe;
Asthma: including access to specialized care for the severe asthma patient
Esophageal Diagnostic Assessment Program (EDAP): directed at patients with suspected esophageal cancer
Lung Diagnostic Assessment Program (LDAP): directed at patients with suspected lung cancer
Interstitial Lung Disease: providing multi-disciplinary care to patients with complex disease within a chronic disease management model.
Malignant Pleural Effusion Clinic: directed at patients with pleural effusions
Small Pulmonary Nodules Clinic: directed at patients with small lung nodules
Tuberculosis Clinic, which is a regional program run jointly with Public Health.
The Firestone also houses clinics for Thoracic Surgery.
How this program helps...
This clinic is part of the Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health, creating a link between patient care, translational research and educational activities. The clinic provides interdisciplinary patient centered care.
The clinic provides access to respiratory assessment and care in a time frame consistent with the patient’s medical needs through their urgent consult process, access to specialists, and routine respiratory testing for the community.
In 2012/13, the Firestone Clinic registered close to 45,000 patients across the various clinics, providing almost 40,000 clinical tests.
Your Care Team
The dedicated and highly skilled care team at Firestone currently consists of over 30 physicians, 16 respiratory therapists and technicians, 16 clerical staff and 10 nurses. The team is closely integrated with the physician offices and their secretaries to provide a coordinated seamless approach to patient care.

Entering through the Charlton St. Main entrance the Firestone Clinic is located to the right on the main floor of the Juravinski Innovation Tower. Premium parking is located at the front of the building, off Charlton Ave. Regular parking is off James St. S., on the south side of the hospital.

Registration Procedures
Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment to leave time for parking and registration.
Please enter Firestone Ambulatory Clinic level 1 and take a number and be seated until your number is called. Firestone Ambulatory Clinic is located in the Juravinski Innovation Tower, level 1 close to the main lobby and Tim Horton’s.
