Total Solar Eclipse – April 8, 2024
There are no planned disruptions to St. Joe’s services or scheduled care on April 8, 2024, for the upcoming total eclipse of the Sun that will be visible across our region. Appointments and scheduled care will take place as usual, unless otherwise arranged. Patients and visitors are reminded to give themselves extra time to travel to our sites given the possibility of heavier than usual traffic.
Dr. Enitan Sogbesan, Ophthalmologist says:
"The solar eclipse is an incredible solar experience. Prevent long lasting damage to your vision by planning ahead to watch the eclipse safely. Protect your eyes while watching the entire eclipse by using special eye protection eclipse glasses with solar filters (ISO 12312-2 Standard). Very dark sunglasses or homemade or damaged filters are not useful. If you experience any symptoms of eye damage after an eclipse, please see an eye specialist immediately. Prevention is Key!"
