We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Mark Soth for his longstanding leadership in the position of Chief of Critical Care Medicine at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. During his tenure, Dr. Soth expanded the scope of this specialty and the number of beds within the ICU. Outside the walls of the ICU, he helped to create the valuable Critical Care Response Team (CCRT) service, and further enhanced Critical Care on the Medical Stepdown Unit. During the pandemic, Dr. Soth ensured Critical Care access for thousands of patients with or without COVID-19 in the local community, while also devoting hundreds of hours to help coordinate patient flow across the province. His strong interprofessional orientation and unwavering support of the academic mission have been highly valued by the Critical Care Department and throughout the organization.
