Myrna Dolovich, Professor of Medicine, McMaster University, has a background in electrical engineering. Her research at St Joseph’s Hospital includes development of delivery systems for medical aerosols, which are important for inhaled drugs and medicines such as asthma inhalers or new inhaled vaccines. Her lab has trained students in understanding the functioning and application of these systems to treatment. In 2009, she started Aerosol School, a 3-day teaching program for practical laboratory experience in aerosol basics, measurements and techniques, including applications to pharmaceutical laboratory and clinical settings. The program continues in 2023. Dolovich has authored 165 articles in medical literature and has spoken extensively on drug delivery systems and imaging. She has also co-edited a recognized textbook on Aerosols in Medicine. |
Dr. Mukherjee is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Respirology, Department of Medicine, McMaster University, and a translational scientist affiliated with the Research Institute of St. Joe's, Hamilton. She is an expert in uncovering the origins of airway disease and inflammation and determining why some people respond to therapeutic treatments and others don't. She is a thought leader and pioneer in uncovering the mechanisms of Long COVID and has made McMaster and the Research Institute at St. Joe's the epicentre of the study of autoimmunity in the lungs. In addition to being a bold and creative researcher, she has been a powerful advocate for people living with Long COVID, a disease that disproportionately affects women and racialized people. |
We couldn't be prouder to have Myrna and Manali as part of the St. Joe's family - Congratulations!
