Carol Scholes celebrates her retirement after 47 years of providing compassionate care with St. Joe’s
If you’ve visited Urgent Care at St. Joe’s King campus, chances are that you’ve seen Carol Scholes’ friendly face greeting you. As a Registration Clerk at King campus’ Urgent Care, Carol is known for her kindness and her ability to put people at ease.
First hired in 1976 in the laboratory for one shift a week, Carol moved into Admitting, followed by a stint in the Emergency Department, then on to Bed Booking, and then Urgent Care. Carol initially applied to St. Joe’s looking for part-time job. She was drawn to St. Joe’s by the values of our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Carol admits that she has considered retirement in the past, but the time never felt quite right. It is St. Joes’ focus on providing compassionate care that has kept Carol motivated to continue all these years.
“On my next birthday, it’s time to finally retire,” Carol recalls thinking to herself. “That was eight months ago, and then all of a sudden, eight months have flown by and it’s time to go, as much as I don’t really want to. It’s time.”
She will be missed by her many co-workers, who noted Carol’s kindness, tenacity and dedication.
“Carol’s contributions will always be valued and remembered,” shared Carling Provost, Nurse Manager. “She demonstrates utmost commitment to her work and dedication to the patients we serve.”
Thank you, Carol, for your service to St. Joe’s and our community for the last 47 years!
