Monthly feature: Mr. Rick Martin and Mr. Joe McKillop, 2019 Mission Legacy Award winners
Late November we celebrated the 2019 Mission Legacy Award ceremony at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton. The Mission Legacy Award recognizes key individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to contribute to the legacy and mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton, St. Joseph's Health System, St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton and its Foundation.
Each month we will feature a few of the award recipients to share a bit more about how they have made meaningful contributions throughout their time with our health care organization.

Mr. Rick Martin, Recreational Therapist Rick Martin brings positivity and hope to the patients in his care and the colleagues who cross his path each day. As a Recreational Therapist with the Schizophrenia Service Rick provides inpatients with activities that help bring back a sense of themselves. His easy manner allows those who need quiet to find that with him, and when others need to talk, Rick listens. He truly embodies the Mission and Values of our founding Sisters. |
Mr. Joe McKillop, HVAC Mechanic Patient care is more than what happens at the bedside. The work Joe McKillop does equips the hospital with adequate air changes, appropriate temperatures and acceptable humidity levels, all impacting patient comfort. As an HVAC Mechanic Joe has been known to work in his off hours, ensuring all units are operational so there are no delays in surgery. His heartfelt dedication helps minimize disruptions and demonstrates an unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of our patients. |
