Forensic Psychiatry adds new Clinical Chair positions to improve clinical services and patient outcomes
As a premier academic and research centre and leader in mental health care, St. Joe’s is always exploring new ways to create innovative programs and initiatives that enable continuous learning and compassionate care in this space and allow us to best serve our patients and the community.
The Forensic Psychiatry program at St. Joe’s is a specialized program within our mental health care practice that focuses specifically on the relationship between psychiatry and the law. This program supports some of our most vulnerable residents who often face stigma and discrimination.
To better serve our patients and community in this area, St. Joe’s has created four new Clinical Chair positions that will focus on correctional psychiatry, violence reduction, sexual disorders and recovery in forensic psychiatry.
The creation of Clinical Chairs in these key areas will allow for a deeper understanding of and an improvement in the quality of clinical services and patient outcomes for these marginalized and underserved populations.
The successful candidates have extensive experience within their key areas and are committed to innovation in mental health care. We are pleased to announce the following Chairs:
- Chair in Forensic- Correctional Psychiatry – Dr. Andrew Olagunju
- Chair in Violence Reduction – Dr. Mini Mamak and Dr. Gary Chaimowitz
- Chair in Sexual Disorders – Dr. Heather Moulden
- Chair in Recovery in Forensic Psychiatry – Dr. Sebastien Prat
St. Joe’s is proud to recognize these Chairs and to provide opportunities for experts in mental health care to learn, lead and improve care for our patients and community.
