Congratulations to Team St. Joe’s for receiving the award of Accredited with Exemplary Standing under Accreditation Canada’s Qmentum accreditation program!

This is a tremendous achievement to celebrate – congratulations to all staff, physicians, learners and volunteers for their collective efforts towards our success. We achieved 99% compliance with all Required Organizational Practices (ROPs) met. We are particularly proud that the Accreditation Canada surveyors told us that they saw, heard and felt St. Joe’s commitment to compassionate care – and how we truly live the values instilled by the Sisters.

The Accreditation Canada team noted a number of St. Joe’s strengths, among them:

• A culture of compassion and caring for patients and healthcare workers
• A committed and engaged board, physicians, staff, patient and family advisors, volunteers and community partners
• A refreshed strategic plan and clear vision
• An organizational focus and engagement on quality improvement and risk management
• Strong standardization across sites including policies and equipment
• A firm commitment to learners, both those of today and investing in future healthcare leaders
• Innovative and technological growth
• Strength as an academic health sciences research hub

The Accreditation Canada team also picked up on some of our challenges, such as staffing pressures, fiscal constraints, growing complexity of care needs and aging infrastructure. As a health system focused on quality, we will collectively embrace their recommendations and advice to further enhance the care we provide for our patients and community.

Supporting high-quality care is our Accreditation 2023 theme, and together we showed how committed we are to maintaining and advancing national accreditation standards through the lens of our mission. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Team St. Joe’s, and how the mission of living the legacy of the Sisters remains at the core of all we do. It’s been said before – we are working in challenging times – and it’s by working together that we have and will continue to address the pressures we face.
