St. Joe’s declares COVID-19 outbreak on inpatient unit at Charlton campus

In consultation with Hamilton Public Health Services, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 on CTU-West, a general internal medicine unit at the Charlton campus, after two people tested positive for the virus. They are both now in isolation and following Public Health safety guidelines.
Hamilton Public Health and St. Joe’s Infection Prevention and Control and Occupational Health and Safety teams are conducting contact tracing, and patients and staff on the unit are being tested for COVID-19 and regularly screened for symptoms. A thorough deep cleaning of the unit is also taking place.
CTU-West is now closed to admissions. Hamilton Public Health, St. Joe's Infection Prevention and Control and Occupational Health and Safety Departments are monitoring the situation closely.
