Accreditation
St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) is committed to providing Safe, Effective, Accessible and Kind care to the patients and families we serve. We do this by emphasizing patient safety, patient-centred care, patient and family engagement in service delivery, and continuous improvement within a collegial and learning environment.
In this spirit of continuous improvement, SJHH participates in the Accreditation Canada QMENTUM process. Accreditations assists healthcare organizations to review their programs, services, policies, and procedures against national standards of excellence with a view to improving the quality of care and services they provide.
The QMENTUM accreditation process consists of three main components:
1) Organization self-assessment
2) Actions for Improvement
3) On-site survey
This rigorous process is on-going over a 4-year cycle and concludes with an intense week of review by a team of seven external surveyors, including six surveyors plus one patient surveyor.
For the second consecutive time, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton was awarded Full Accreditation Status, with Exemplary standing during our last review (May 2019). Given the complexity and multiple challenges in healthcare today, this is a tremendous achievement that can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of all staff, physicians, volunteers, and the patient and family advisory council at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton.
