Monthly feature: CTU Central, Congregate Settings Covid-9 Team and MHAP Mobile Clinic 2021 Mission Legacy Award winners
Late November we celebrated the 2021 Mission Legacy Award ceremony at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton. The Mission Legacy Award recognizes key individuals and departments / teams who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to contribute to the legacy and mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton, St. Joseph's Health System, St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton and its Foundation.
Each month we will feature a few of the award recipients to share a bit more about how they have made meaningful contributions throughout their time with our health care organization.
This month we feature the CTU Central, Congregate Settings Covid-9 Team and MHAP Mobile Clinic.
CTU Central: In February 2020, CTU Central was designated as the COVID Unit. Staff members accepted this daunting challenge despite many unknowns surrounding this new virus. Beyond providing the necessary medical care, the team demonstrated outstanding humanity, compassion and sensitivity to patients forced into extreme isolation. They not only answered the call of care provider, but for many patients became substitute family.
Congregate Settings Covid-19 Response Team: The Congregate Settings COVID 19 Crisis Response Team is a group of committed, inspirational & ground-breaking leaders. Since March 2020, this team has demonstrated excellence in their area of service by providing innovative community outreach to organizations facing dire circumstances. Their work truly reflects the mission, vision and values established by the Sisters of St. Joseph.
MHAP Mobile Clinic. The MHAP Mobile Clinic was swiftly created in the spring of 2020 to aid patients who feared coming to hospital in the early stages of the pandemic. The team travelled to patient homes, ensuring no medication injections or routine bloodwork was missed. Their outreach to a vulnerable population is in keeping with the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
In 2021, the following fourteen groups / individuals were awarded:
CTU Central, Congregate Settings Covid-19 Response Team, MHAP Mobile Clinic, Dr. Peter Cook, Dr. Zain Chagla, Dee Frisina, Dr. Anne Boyle, Lily Waugh, Amanda Weatherston, Eric Bellmer, Heather Saunders, Dr. David Russell, Demetree Kallergis, Mr. Joseph Mancinelli, Mr. Adriaan Konstanje, Dr. Mark Crowther, Carola Brunner, Dr. Zain Chagla & Dr. Marek Smieja (Physician Team), and Laura Garrick.
