Proof of Vaccination Required for Visitors Starting December 17
Posted December 16th, 2021
St. Joe’s is requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination (i.e. vaccine receipt or enhanced vaccine certificate with a QR code and government-issued ID) for all visitors, caregivers and support people starting Friday, December 17, 2021. Visitors must be fully vaccinated (i.e. 14-days since their second dose).
St. Joe’s has made this decision due to the rapidly changing environment, in which the highly transmissible Omicron variant is infecting increasing numbers of people in our region, and there is a growing need to take further actions to protect our patients and staff. Additionally, the Ontario government has mandated vaccination for visitors to Long-Term Care Homes, and many of our patients present with similar frailties.
Ensuring that everyone inside the hospital is vaccinated – all healthcare workers as well as visitors and support people – is critical to ensuring the safest therapeutic environment possible and protect vulnerable patients.
