West 5th Vaccination Clinic Closing August 17th
St. Joe’s is closing its West 5th COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic on August 17. The last day of vaccine delivery will be August 16.
This wind-down is good news as it reflects the significant progress made towards vaccinating the community. As demand for large volume of vaccination tapers off in the weeks ahead, large-scale mass vaccination clinics will soon no longer be required. This change follows direction from Hamilton Public Health Services and was made in partnership with Hamilton Health Sciences.
The planned closure of large-scale COVID-19 vaccination clinics is as follows:
- Hamilton Health Sciences COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic (293 Wellington St. N) will discontinue administering COVID-19 vaccines as of August 3, 2021.
- Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton West 5th COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic (100 West 5thSt.) will discontinue administering COVID-19 vaccines as of August 17.
- FirstOntario Centre COVID-19 Vaccine clinic (101 York Blvd.) will discontinue administering COVID-19 vaccines as of August 29, 2021.
The COVID-19 vaccine will continue to be available at two primary care-led clinics (David Braley Health Sciences Centre and Winterberry Family Medicine), as well as in pharmacies and targeted mobile pop-up clinics across the city.
Hamilton Public Health Services will notify all individuals who have their second dose vaccine appointments scheduled after a clinic closure dates via text and email with links and information on how to access an accelerated second dose. Individuals who have appointments booked after a clinic closure date should reschedule their appointment or walk-in into a local clinic offering walk-ins 28 days after their first dose to get fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible.
We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the West 5th Vaccination Clinic. This has truly been a collaborative effort across the city with our HHS and Hamilton Public Health Services partners. St. Joe’s played a leadership role in mass vaccination clinics, showcasing collaboration and leadership within our organization. To date, St. Joe’s has administered more than 145,000 of the 700,000 doses delivered by Hamilton Healthcare Partners. A huge thank-you to everyone involved.
St. Joe’s will continue to work with our community partners to monitor and adjust services based on community need.
All St. Joe’s HCWs are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated by booking their appointment online, walking-in to St. Joe's West 5th Vaccination Clinic or to any of the aforementioned sites before their closure date.
