COVID-19 outbreak officially over on dialysis unit at St. Joe’s Charlton campus
Hamilton, Ont. – In consultation with Hamilton Public Health, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton has declared the outbreak of COVID-19 officially over on the dialysis unit of the hospital’s Charlton campus. Two patients were confirmed to be linked to the outbreak, which was declared over March 29, 2021.
In managing the outbreak, the affected patients isolated and followed Public Health guidelines, and Hamilton Public Health and St. Joe’s Infection Prevention and Control and Occupational Health and Safety teams conducted contact tracing.
All patients and staff within the Charlton hemodialysis units were tested for COVID-19 and actively screened daily for symptoms and the appropriate use of personal protective equipment. The unit was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
The dialysis unit at St. Joe’s Charlton campus continues to be a safe place for patients to receive their regularly scheduled care and treatment.
