St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton declares outbreak at Satellite Health Facility

In consultation with Hamilton Public Health Services, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 on the fifth floor of the Satellite Health Facility (SHF) after two patients and one healthcare worker tested positive for the virus.
The patients have been transferred to the COVID-19 Unit at Charlton Campus. The healthcare worker is now in isolation.
The fifth floor of the SHF is a St. Joe’s unit currently closed for admissions and visitors. All patients and staff on the floor are being tested for COVID-19, and contact tracing is taking place.
Hamilton Public Health, St. Joe's Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) and Occupational Health and Safety Departments continue to monitor the situation.
Additionally, a COVID-19 outbreak on 5MG at St. Joe’s Charlton Campus has been declared over today. The unit was closed to new patients over the last two weeks, and has now reopened for admissions.
