'You're so deserving of love and you have so much to offer'
Sarah grew up with abuse and neglect. It caused her to develop an anxiety disorder as a child.
After standing up against her mistreatment, she sought help from the Youth Wellness Centre (YWC). The YWC helped her find an apartment, provided her with emergency funding, and made sure she got the mental health care she needed. Sarah is now doing well, receiving successful therapy and serving on the Youth Council, advocating for mental health services and accessibility in the city. Watch her story here:
About the Youth Wellness Centre: The Youth Wellness Centre provides mental health and addiction support to youth aged 17-25. Additional supports include emergency funds, housing resources, and access to services throughout Hamilton. The Transition Stream is here to help you transition from child and youth services to adult mental health services delivered by SJHH and other community partners. The Mobile team is available for students at Mohawk, McMaster or Redeemer, and/or those who are facing significant barriers to accessing care for their mental health or addiction. We accept self and family/friend referrals for confidential and OHIP-covered services.
