St. Peter's Hospital patients being cared for at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton has accepted 10 patients from St. Peter’s Hospital as a result of a fire that occurred in an unoccupied wing of St. Peter’s Hospital the morning of Nov. 5, 2017. The fire was put out and everyone is safe. There was a need to evacuate some patients from St. Peter’s Hospital so that the area can be inspected for damage, repaired and cleaned. Patients who required transfer have been accommodated in community facilities. St. Joseph’s is accepting 10 patients from St. Peter’s Hospital. All families who are coming to St. Joseph’s have been informed by St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton Health Sciences. We wish to assure families that patients will be well cared for in our Medical-Surgical Assessment Unit (MSAU) at the Charlton site of St. Joseph’s. Families who have been informed that their loved one has been transferred to St. Joseph’s can call in to check on them by calling the main switchboard number – 905-522-1155, and asking for the MSAU nursing station. Families are also welcome to visit on Nov. 5 until 11 p.m. and in the following days. Visiting families are asked to go the Emergency Room entrance on James Street South to enter the hospital, where staff will direct them.
