Dr. Deborah Cook receives distinguished lecturer award from CIHR
Dr. Deborah Cook has received the CIHR-ICRH/CCCS Distinguished Lecturer Award in Critical Care Sciences.
The CIHR Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (ICRH) and the Canadian Critical Care Society (CCCS) have established an annual Distinguished Lecturer in Critical Care Sciences Award in recognition of an individual's outstanding contribution to the advancement of critical care sciences in Canada.
As a Canada Research Chair in Knowledge Translation in Critical Care, and former Chair of the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group, Dr. Cook has published over 700 peer-review articles and supervised many young trainees and faculty. Dr. Cook has received numerous local, national and international awards for her practice, teaching, mentorship and research. In 2016, she was named an Officer of the Order of Canada for her contributions to improving the care of critically ill patients. Over the past few years, Dr. Cook has established the Three Wishes Project at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, which is an initiative that strives to bring compassionate care to dying patients and their families in the intensive care unit.
