Dovetale: New digital healthcare movement will position St. Joe’s as Canadian leader
New digital healthcare movement will position St. Joe’s as Canadian leader
Hamilton, Ont. (December 1, 2016) – St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) is embarking on a digital healthcare movement that will transform how it cares for patients, inspire researchers to explore new opportunities, and elevate St. Joe’s to a Canadian leader in digital technology.
St. Joe’s is working with a leading North American digital health information provider called Epic to implement a system currently used in North American institutions such as the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins. When in place just over a year from now, the system will take St. Joe’s to a level of technology currently held by only half a dozen hospitals in Canada today.
The digital information solution will be used as a tool to improve outcomes for patients and create better communication and access to patient information in one safe, secure system for healthcare teams and patients, using multiple devices such as mobile technology at the bedside for real-time data and analysis.
“This will not only improve quality of care, but offer outstanding opportunities for research and innovation,” said Dr. Chris Hayes, Chief Medical Information Officer, SJHH.
“This is more than new digital technology, it’s a way of combining the compassionate care provided at St. Joe’s with the best digital solution,” he said. “The new system will be called Dovetale – signifying the joining of Compassion and Technology, and recognizing that the patient’s story is at the heart of best care.”
