St. Joe’s researchers awarded $9.9mil in highly-competitive CIHR funding
Researchers at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton have been awarded $9.9 million in research funding to investigate health care issues that could change the lives of people suffering kidney disease, mental health issues, allergies and more.
The funding is awarded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), one of the primary funders of health research in Canada.
“In the incredibly competitive environment surrounding CIHR funding over the past (and somewhat tumultuous) year, it is very rewarding to see the outstanding successes in the most recent grant competition from our researchers at St. Joe’s,” states Dr. Jack Gauldie, VP Research at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. “We have shown strength in both basic and clinical research in all areas of clinical excellence in our hospital system. Congratulations to all investigators and we look forward to hearing about the progress and subsequent impact to our patients in the important studies supported by these funds.”
