Bike Lane Installation to improve traffic flow around St. Joe's
New bike lane installation on Charlton Ave. is Westbound-only on the north side of the street - July 11, 2016
Starting the evening of Sunday June 26, the City of Hamilton will be installing bike lanes along Charlton Ave. and Herkimer St. between James St. S. and Dundurn St. The work involves the installation of new pavement markings and signs on both roads as well as minor improvements to the traffic signal at Charlton Ave. and James St. S.
Charlton Avenue has already been completed with work beginning on Herkimer Street during the week starting July 11th. The "protected" bike lanes will allow cyclists to bike behind parked cars that line the street. Cyclists are reminded to be aware of pedestrians beside parked cars and potential conflicts with autos at driveways and intersections.
