Congratulations to St. Joe's Recipients of the Hamilton Academy of Medicine Awards
On June 15th, the Hamilton Academy of Medicine hosted their Annual General Meeting where the medical community was recognized and given distinguished awards. St. Joe’s staff members were among those included in receiving various awards for their tremendous contributions and commitment to providing quality patient care.
The Hamilton Academy of Medicine award recipients for St. Joe’s staff members include:
Dr. Carolyn Lévis, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery – HAM Distinguished Service Award
Dr. Gary Chaimowitz, Psychiatrist, Forensic Services – OMA Section Service Award
Dr. Lori Whitehead, Respirologist, F.I.R.H. – 25 Year Membership Award
Congratulations are also well deserved to Dr. Jennifer Brasch who was welcomed as the new president of the Hamilton Academy of Medicine. Dr. Jennifer Brasch is dedicated to providing the best care and the best patient outcomes. She is currently a member of the Ontario Hospitals Association Task Force on Suicide Prevention Standards, and along with this Dr. Brasch had an instrumental role in bringing the Miss You Most Photography Exhibit to the West 5th Campus to encourage discussion about suicide prevention and reduce stigma around suicide loss. Last year, the Ontario Medical Association created a video around Dr. Brasch's clinical work at the West 5th Campus that can be viewed here.
A skilled listener, she represents to patients and colleagues alike the values that define St. Joseph’s: respect, dignity, and compassion. She encourages her patients’ success by always impressing upon them that they have a “life worth living”.
