Around the Bay Race 2015
The anticipated annual Around the Bay Race is just around the corner with the race date of Sunday, March 29, 2015. As the oldest race on the continent, the race consists of both 5 km and 30 km distances, and all funds raised by the participants go to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.
This year’s registration numbers are low, and with a goal of raising $475,000 the race is in need of more participants, says Race Director Mike Zajczenko. There is a need of about 2000 runners for the 30 km race, and 1000 for the 5 km race with less than two months until race day!
Thousands of residents and businesses in Hamilton have been registering for the race, such as CARSTAR’s Chief Operating Officer Michael Macaluso and several other business leaders. Macaluso announced that they will be running the 5 km race with the goal of fundraising $50,000.
There will also be top runners returning to the race to keep an eye out for including: 2014 30km winner, Paul Kimugal in the men’s field with a time of 1:35:34; Dayna Pidhoresky from the women’s race with a time of 1:50:48 in 2012, and 2013 Hamilton Road2Hope Winner Brendan Kenny, to name a few.
