This Monday, October 6th from 7:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. catch Lori DeAngelis hosting CH News' Morning Live at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton's West 5th Campus.
This live broadcast featuring the diverse programs and services at the West 5th Campus kicks off our celebration of Mental Illness Awareness Week (October 6th to 12th)!
Featured guests includes new and familiar faces like Dr. David Higgins, President, who will welcome the host and viewers to the new integrated medical and mental health facility.
Angela Jaspan, whom you might recognize from Colours Cafe, will be advocating for mental illness awareness by sharing her lived experience with schizoaffective disorder. Her story proves that proper treatment, purposeful employment and a healthy routine are vital for recovery and rehabilitation.
Dr. Margaret Mckinnon will explore how St. Joe's is reinventing research with ground breaking mental health and addiction studies. Her Team Unbreakable study brings together people with lived experience of depression and anxiety for running groups to examine and measure the powerful, holistic benefits of exercise.
Sandra Bolton, a patient from our Bariatric Program, will be sharing her story that begin with her being diagnosed with diabetes at 18 years of age and eventually losing her sight. Her doctor referred her to the Bariatric Program (now open at the West 5th Campus) and after surgery at St. Joe's she lost over 130 lbs. Her lifestyle changes and positivity are a true inspiration!
Sandra Berzaitis-Smith from Recreation Therapy will talk about our innovative recreation therapy services, that could not provide to our deserving patients without the generous support of viewers like you!
