Innovation and Transformation at St. Joe's featured in September's Hospital News
In September’s issue of Hospital News you’ll find two homegrown stories featuring some amazing feats accomplished by St. Joe’s staff.
The first article features how research at St. Joe’s are positively impacting patient outcomes and the health of our community. The article covers our organizations main areas of exploration including the prevention of lung and chest-related ailments, engaging in cutting-edge kidney and urinary research, and understanding mental health and addiction. Even though there are many different research studies that occur at St. Joe’s in collaboration with McMaster University, there is one universal goal in mind; improving the quality of life.
The second article features innovation and transformation that took place during the flooding crisis that occurred in January 2014 at Charlton Campus. There was more than 60,000 square feet of damage which immediately left our Emergency Department down to about 60 percent in physical capacity and closed all twelve of the operating suites in the new Surgical Tower. Both Dr. Anthony Adilli, Chief of Surgery and Dr. Ian Preyra, Chief of Emergency Medicine are quoted telling of how St. Joe’s staff came together to find solutions that provided timely, high-quality care during a challenging situation.
