Vice President of Research Prepares for Trans-Canada Bike Ride to Help Support Fight Against Pediatric Cancer

Dr. Mark Crowther, Vice President Research for the St. Joseph’s Health System, was spinning in the Charlton Campus lobby today to help support his campaign to cycle across Canada to raise funds to fight pediatric cancer.
Dr. Crowther will be embarking on a Trans-Canada bike ride this September as part of a group raising funds for pediatric cancer hospitals across Canada including McMaster’s Children Hospital. The ride is organized by the charity, Coast to Coast against Cancer and the event is known as the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride. The group will be taking off on September 4th beginning in Vancouver and finishing in Halifax on the 20th.
Cycling in relay style, selected national riders, such as Dr. Crowther will each cycle approximately 150 km and 220 kms per day for a total of over 2800 km in 17 days. The Sears National Kids Cancer Ride will help to support the 10,000 Canadian children diagnosed with cancer each year, to help improve their quality of life and support towards finding a cure.

After cycling in the Charlton Campus lobby for 61/2 hours and raffling off three baskets, Dr. Crowther raised an outstanding total of $7,161 for pediatric cancer hospitals across Canada.
