Lieutenant-General, the Honourable Roméo Dallaire (Ret’d) is recognized internationally for his distinguished military career and as a dedicated champion of human rights. After witnessing mass genocide in Rwanda, General Dallaire suffered post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and was medically dismissed from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2000. Since, he has devoted his life to humanitarian causes and to advocating for those struggling with mental illness. General Dallaire will share his personal story and struggle and what needs to be done to end the stigma around mental illness.
