Calcium Disorders Clinic

What this program does...

The Specialized Calcium Disorders Clinic (CDC) was established at St Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton in 2005. The Clinic, serving patients in Hamilton and surrounding areas, focuses on diagnosis and treatment of complex calcium disorders. The Clinic is a center of excellence for delivery of the medical and surgical management of calcium disorders and a focal point for clinical research and education for medical students, residents and fellows.

How this program helps...

The Centre services, assesses and treats patients with complex calcium disorders. Given the growing demands of the program, the Centre has now identified key areas requiring further enhancement. Development of a second site at McMaster University Medical Center will enable the program to effectively meet current clinical needs as well as address research and medical education from a multidisciplinary perspective.

Your Care Team

The Clinic has two main physicians: Dr. Aliya Khan, an endocrinologist specializing in calcium disorders and parathyroid diseases and Dr. J.E.M. Young, a surgeon, specializing in parathyroid surgery. The clinic team also consists of nursing and administrative staff, endocrinology and surgery fellows, internal medicine residents and medical students who work under the supervision of physicians.
