Acute Psychiatry
What this program does...
This 25-bed unit will provide psychiatric intensive care/observation, stabilization, psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge planning to adults 18 years of age and older with acute mental illness. Many patients may also be experiencing co-morbid stable medical problems.
How this program helps...
This program services adults experiencing acute mental health issues and concerns. Our goal is to help individuals in the program recover through assessment and treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific needs. Our vision is to achieve important advances in the understanding, presentation, treatment and rehabilitation of people with mental illness and to offer excellence and innovation in the service delivery, research and education of the Acute Psychiatry program.
Your Care Team
Your care team may consist of the following: Psychiatrist, Nurses, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Recreation Therapist, Pharmacy, Dietician, Spiritual Care Advisor, Patient Advocate and Peer Support provider.

Referrals are accepted from Emergency Psychiatric Services, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.
