Virtual Care

What is a Virtual Care?

Virtual care is a method of care that allows patients to synchronously and/or asynchronously interact with their healthcare providers, this may include: telephone, video, or secure electronic messaging.

St. Joe’s is offering virtual care to make sure that we can continue to care for our patients safely and effectively. This means that we will be using video and audio technologies for some patient visits, rather than asking you to present to your clinic in person. Please keep in mind that not all visits are suited for virtual care, and your care team will determine whether this mode of care is appropriate for you.

How does St. Joes Provide Virtual Care?

St. Joe’s provides virtual care through many modalities:

  1. Telephone
  2. Video
    • Zoom
      • You may be provisioned access to your Zoom link through: MyDovetale, Email or Text Message.
    • OTN
      • You may be provisioned access to your OTN appointment through Email.
    • Secure Messaging, through MyDovetale

Your care team will discuss with you to identify the most appropriate form of virtual care for your needs.

Preparing for your Virtual (Video) Visit

The following provisions should be made for your video visit to be successful:

  • Ensure you have an appropriate device and internet connection.
  • Prepare your space to have minimal sound disruptions, so that you can be heard and can hear your care team clearly.
  • Prepare your space to have sufficient lighting, so that you can be seen clearly.
  • If accessing through MyDovetale, ensure you are able to log into MyDovetale and can see your scheduled video appointment.
  • If using Zoom, ensure you have downloaded the latest version of the app on the device being used during the visit (phone or computer).
  • If using OTN, ensure you have the OTN link for launch at the scheduled time.
