Reintroduction of volunteer services

Last Updated March 16, 2022.

Volunteers have always been a vital part of the St. Joe’s community, enhancing the quality of care for our patients and their families, while providing additional support for our staff. During the pandemic volunteer programs were suspended, limited few have resumed.

With continued decline in COVID-19 cases, easing of restrictions and a vast majority of our population now vaccinated, the goal will be to transition to a gradual resumption of priority volunteer programs.  This resumption will be slow and aligned with the needs and priorities of the hospital over the next 6-12 months.

The reintroduction plan has been developed in consultation with Occupational Health & Safety, Infection Prevention & Control, and program managers and directors, to ensure best use of volunteer resources and overall safety and wellbeing of volunteers returning.

All new and returning volunteers must be fully vaccinated.

Seeking new volunteers at this time and ask that you refer to Volunteer Resources - St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton Careers (joinstjoes.ca) for more information on how to apply.  We look forward to discussing volunteer opportunities with you!

If you have any questions, please email our general email at voluntee@stjoes.ca .
