St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton has reached a pivotal moment in a three-year campaign to protect the health and safety of our patients, healthcare workers and the community. The COVID-19 Testing and Assessment Centre and the Flu, COVID and Cold Clinic at the West 5th Campus will be closed the end of March. The move is in response to a sustained drop in the prevalence of COVID-19 and a decline in appointment bookings for testing, attributed to uptake in vaccinations, higher levels of immunity, and declining circulation of the virus in the community.
Following March 31, ready access to COVID-19 testing in the community through most pharmacies is available for the public. Visit the City of Hamilton COVID-19 Testing web page for a list of participating pharmacies.
We also encourage everyone to know all of their health-care options:
For questions about your previous results, please contact Public Health.
The St. Joe’s West 5th COVID-19 Testing and Assessment Centre in the Hamilton region was a partnership between Hamilton Public Health Services, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, Hamilton Health Sciences, Hamilton Paramedic Service, McMaster Family Health Team, Hamilton Family Health Team, Hamilton Family Medicine (HFAM) and Good Shepherd Centres.
As always, regardless of need for a potential COVID-19 test, if someone is very ill and in need of immediate care, they should go to the nearest Urgent Care Centre, Emergency Department, or call 9-1-1.
