You will be asked to provide personal health information including your name, birth date, address, phone number and other demographic information. The personal health information provided is securely stored and accessed by authorized individuals to provide care and manage the program. Any email can be provided as part of this booking. If you are a St. Joe’s or HHS employee, please do not use your office/work contact information. 

If you are booking an appointment for a family member, you must book using your family members’ name, address, phone number, health card number, etc.

By booking your appointment online, you acknowledge and agree to receive your appointment information by email.​ Your personal information is being collected through this site by St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, and by providing your email address, you consent to receive communications about any future St. Joe’s appointments by email. If you wish to opt out of receiving appointment information by email, please contact our registration agents or your care team.

Please bring your health card and a list of any current medications you are taking.

At your appointment:

• You will first be assessed by a doctor. The doctor will ask you questions pertaining to your health and the symptoms you are experiencing. A physical exam will also be performed, which will include listening to your heart and lungs, and looking in your ears and throat.
• Based on the findings, you may need to undergo further testing, such as a chest x-ray, which will be done at an off-site location and results reported the next day.
• The doctor will also determine whether you require a prescription and will provide you with follow-up instructions for after your visit.

• Self-isolate
• Wear a mask if you must go out to protect others
• Drink plenty of fluids
• Consider taking over-the-counter remedies such as ibuprofen (Advil), acetaminophen (Tylenol), nasal rinses and cold/flu medications
• Call 9-1-1 if you are experiencing an emergency

Children 17 and under requiring care are encouraged to visit the walk-in McMaster Children’s Hospital Flu, COVID & Cold Clinic. Families with both adults and children requiring care may book an appointment at St. Joe’s Flu, COVID & Cold Clinic. Be sure to book one appointment per family member.

You do not need a doctor’s referral to be seen at the Flu, COVID & Cold Clinic.

St. Joe's clinic is unable to accommodate walk ins. All patients must book an appointment at stjoes.ca/fluCOVIDCold to attend the Flu, COVID & Cold Clinic. Households who have more than one member requiring care must book separate appointments for each family member.

Children 17 and under requiring care may visit the walk-in McMaster Children’s Hospital Flu, COVID & Care Clinic.

Patients may bring one support person/caregiver with them to the Flu, COVID & Cold Clinic. Everyone must wear a mask at all times inside the hospital.

If you have worsening flu, COVID or cold symptoms, but feel that your symptoms are not severe and you would like to have a physician assessment, book an appointment at the Flu, COVID & Cold Clinic. Wait times at Hamilton’s emergency departments are currently longer than usual. The Flu, COVID & Cold Clinic provide care in a timely manner by appointment.

Please go to the emergency department if you are experiencing:

• shortness of breath
• chest pain
• confusion (if this is a new symptom for you)

We are unable to provide emergency care at the Flu, COVID & Cold Clinic.

• Family doctor – If you and your loved ones have a family doctor, they should be your first call
• McMaster Children’s Hospital Flu, COVID & Cold Clinic – for children 17 and under.
• Urgent Care – For concerns such as sprains, strains or bruises, ear infections, rashes
• Health Connect Ontario – Dial 8-1-1 or chat online to speak with a registered nurse 24/7
• Emergency Department – If you are experiencing a medical emergency, shortness of breath, chest pain or new symptoms of confusion, call 9-1-1 or visit your nearest emergency department

Yes. Your family doctor will receive a summary of your visit.

While the Flu, COVID & Cold Clinic does not provide follow-up care, your doctor will share an after-care summary before you leave, with instructions on what to do next.

Yes, the building and clinic are both accessible.

Yes. St. Joe’s universal masking policy is in place everywhere in the hospital. Please ensure you are masked before entering the hospital and only remove your mask once you are outside hospital doors.

Masks for public and staff and provided at each hospital entrance.

A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provided when you book your appointment. Within this confirmation email there is a link that you can select to complete the cancellation of your appointment as needed.

Please ensure that you check your ‘Junk’ folder in your email account for the confirmation email. Additionally, please confirm that the following email account has been added to your ‘Safe Senders’ list: donotreply@mydovetale.ca.

Additionally, if you have a MyDovetale account, you can log into your account, select your COVID-19 Testing appointment, and select the ‘Cancel appointment’ option. You can only cancel an appointment up to 48 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment time.
