St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) is a teaching hospital affiliated with McMaster University and linked with Mohawk College. The Faculties of Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, and Recreation Therapy all place learners in our clinical programs. Many members of the staff have formal responsibilities to teach and mentor learners.
Our new facility will be one of the largest academic psychiatric centres in Canada. It will be the home of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences of McMaster University and the large majority of all its clinical, educational and research activities will take place within its walls.
The Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster is internationally renowned for its innovative approaches to medical education and as the home of evidence-based medicine. McMaster University has recently been ranked as Canada’s leading research-intensive university. McMaster has positioned itself as a “healthcare university”, acknowledging the centrality of its healthcare faculty to its identity and international reputation.
Our new West 5th Campus, with its clinical, educational and research facilities will reflect the energy embodied in our academic mission and the critical role that mental health plays in the overall health of our community.
