This is an exciting time for St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) as we build the new West 5th Campus. The new Campus has been in development for over 10 years now, with contributions from St. Joe’s staff, partners, patients and community members. We are building not only a state-of-the-art facility, we are also changing the way we prevent, diagnose and treat mental health and addiction. Our brand new Campus signifies a new era in mental health in Canada as we integrate inpatient, outpatient services along with community medical services, research facilities and academic partnerships.
Construction began in January 2011 and the new building will be complete in the summer of 2014. The new 305 bed facility will be approximately 800,000 square feet. The community can access indoor and outdoor recreational facilities and walking trails. The Campus will become the home to the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences of McMaster University.
