Leadership changes in the department of emergency medicine
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Andrew Healey as the new chief of the department of emergency medicine for a two-year term. Dr. Healey’s term will commence May 12, pending board approval. During this two-year appointment, Dr. Healey will continue in his current role of department chief of critical care.
Dr. Healey’s dual certification in critical care and emergency medicine, as well as his extensive leadership experience, will allow him to help support and stabilize the department while working on succession planning. After the two-year term is over, St. Joe’s will begin a new search for a department chief.
Dr. Shawn Mondoux will take on the newly created role of deputy chief of emergency medicine, pending board approval. Dr. Mondoux’s experience and track record in the emergency department will allow him to take on this new role and help the department meet the changing needs of St. Joe’s patients and communities.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Erich Hanel for his two years of leadership as the interim chief of emergency medicine at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. We are very appreciative of his dedication and service.
