Honouring those who have made a lasting impression on St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton
September 22nd marks the 2016 Mission Legacy Award ceremony at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. This year we recognize seven deserving individuals who have demonstrated their devotion and dedication to the health care in our community throughout their lives. These individuals have gone above and beyond the call of duty to contribute to the legacy and mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton.
A call for nominations was sent out earlier this year and we received a great response with a large number of staff, physician, volunteer, research and board member names being submitted for consideration.
Following a review of the submissions, we are pleased to announce the following individuals that will be receiving the 2016 award:

Dori Cartwright is passionate about the future of healthcare research at St. Joseph’s. As Executive Director of the Research Institute she has developed and improved upon an environment that fosters world class medical discovery. She demonstrates a leadership style that motivates those fortunate enough to work for her. With a selfless commitment to her work, Dori serves the research community in the same compassionate way that our caregivers serve patients. |
Dr. Janet Farrell |
With a caring touch to the shoulder, Dr. Janet Farrell instills a sense of calm in her pre-surgical patients. It’s a gift sought by any anesthesiologist. Clinical excellence enabled Janet to attain Chief of the Department of Anesthesia. Fairness in leadership earns her the respect of her peers. It’s her warmth and compassionate approach that is a true reflection of the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph. |

Joan has been integral to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton’s Nephrology Program, specifically in the creation of dialysis access, which she has elevated to an art form. Her patient advocacy is an inspiration. |

Pharmacy is her profession, but Lalitha Polamreddy provides much more to the patient population and the care providers at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. She performs daily responsibilities with the utmost precision and diligence, and an uplifting outlook that never falters. Her manner instills hope in staff, and enables them to instill that same hope in our patients and families. She lives the Sister’s mission every day. |
