Dr. Paul O’Byrne Named Dean and Vice-President (Health Sciences) McMaster University

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Paul O’Byrne, who will become the next Dean and vice-president ( health sciences). Paul has served with distinction as the leader of the Academic Department of Medicine as well as the Executive Director of the Firestone Institute of Respiratory Health at St Joseph's.
This new role comes as no surprise to those of us having had the privilege of working with Dr. O’Byrne. His extensive resume, also reflects numerous other leadership roles including the AllerGenNCE Clinical Investigator Collaborative. In recognition of his exemplary career to date, Paul is a Distinguished University Professor, McMaster University.
An internationally renowned clinician scientist with a focus on asthma, Dr. O’Byrne has done much of his research and clinical service at St. Joe’s. We congratulate him on this well-deserved appointment and anticipate he will out-perform in this post, as he does with all commitments.
Dr. O’Byrne assumes this position on July 1, 2016, taking over from Dr. John Kelton who has led the Faculty for the past 15 years. We thank John for his visionary leadership, which has enhanced the profile of McMaster’s Faculty of Health Sciences on the world stage. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of working with him.
