What this program does…

The Geriatric Clinic at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton King Campus is an outpatient clinic that provides specialized assessment and medical care for older adults living in the greater Hamilton and surrounding area.

The Geriatrics clinic is an ongoing valuable resource for older adults in our community to which family physicians can refer older adults with age related disorders.

How this program helps...

The program provides medical assessment to older adults to evaluate cognition and various aspects of physical function such as balance. The program also helps identify and implement supports for any medical issues patients may be experiencing.

The care team of the Geriatric Clinic is made up of highly trained Geriatricians, Nursing and administrative support staff.

Referral Process

Referrals to the Geriatric Clinic are by physicians only. Upon referral from a family physician, patients will be contacted when an appointment time has been determined.

Preparing for Your Visit

Please arrive 15-30 minutes earlier than your scheduled appointment time. Proof of a valid health card is required at each visit. It is strongly recommended that a caregiver also attend the visit. Patients will be required to bring all recent medications for review at their first appointment.

We ask that you do not bring any valuables with you as the hospital cannot be responsible for lost or stolen personal items.

Registration Procedures

Please go to the registration desk upon arrival. Patients will be called in order of appointment. Wait times can vary depending on activity of the clinic that day. Appointments are usually 1-2 hours in duration. Please note patients are required to pay for parking.

After Your Visit

Members of the Geriatric Clinic team will provide further instructions after a patient’s initial assessment.
