Overview
Welcome to the Maternal Newborn Child Program, where approximately 3700 babies are born every year.
We are committed to keeping our patients, families and staff healthy. We kindly ask that you follow the attached Visiting Guidelines.
Flue Season Notice:
December 7, 2009
As of today, we are returning to our regular visiting guidelines. On October 29, 2009, we placed restrictions on visiting in order to better protect patients, families and staff during the height of this Flue season. In the future, it may be necessary to restrict visiting again.
It is extremely important that all staff, patients and visitors maintain strict infection control practices. Hand hygiene (handwashing) is the most important way to prevent infection. Handwashing must be done upon entering and leaving the hospital as well as in patient care ares. All healthcare providers are expected to follow these practices, in addition to patients, families and support person. As always, we ask that you do not visit if you are feeling unwell.
We recognize that you may have questions or concerns. At any time, please speak to a member of the healthcare team. Each unit also has a Charge Nurse who can assist you. You may also ask to speak to a Nurse Manager if you have additional questions or concerns.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Marnie Buchanan, Nurse Manager, Birthing Unit & Postpartum Combined Care
