Prevention Prompt identification and implementation of appropriate controls of potential infectious diseases to ensure transmission does not occur.
Surveillance Provide targeted surveillance of both inpatient and outpatient populations. Initiatives include antibiotic resistant organisms, surgical site infections, ventilator-associated pneumonia, and line associated blood stream infections.
Outbreak Management Monitor and investigate exposures and outbreaks of infectious diseases. Implement prompt containment strategies to ensure patient and staff safety and maintain normal hospital operations.
Research participation locally, provincially and nationally to find more effective, efficient and practical infection prevention and control methods that will improve service.
