Research Participants

The research conducted at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton often includes the use of clinical trial studies.

Clinical trials are research studies that test the effectiveness of new medical interventions, such as drugs,
diagnostics, devices and procedures.  Research participants are individuals that participate in a clinical trial
study, having their responses to treatment recorded and analyzed.  Therefore, clinical trials are a necessary
component of health research.  However, they are only performed after research ensures the non-clinical
safety of the medical intervention, and after the clinical trial has been approved by the hospital's Research
Ethics Board
to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants involved.

Involvement

If you are interested in taking part in St. Joe's research, ask your caretaker or physician about getting involved.

In the future, this section will also include contact information for studies that recruit healthy volunteers as
