Privacy, It's Everyone's Business!Protecting patient privacy is an important part of the patient experience at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton. We recognize that visiting a hospital, as a patient is often an anxious time. Access to your personal health information is available to those who need to know to provide care, including: physicians, nurses, technicians, therapists and other health professionals. This is essential in providing you with the best possible care. Furthermore, when it comes to collecting and using your personal health information, we take measures to ensure the privacy of the information is protected and confidentiality is maintained. To alleviate any concerns about your privacy, we have developed a program to address privacy, confidentiality and security of your personal health information. Our privacy program regulates how we collect, use, disclose, retain, dispose of and protect your personal health information. Our Privacy policies and procedures are in alignment with the Canadian Standards Associations 10 Fair Information Practice Principles, on which the Provincial legislation; Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) as well as the Federal legislation; the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) are based.
