Code Purple
The purpose of the Code Purple policy is to provide a course of action to follow for those involved in an actual or potential on-site hostage/abduction situations so they may respond appropriately and diminish the risk of harm to any hostage(s) and other patients, staff and visitors.
General Guidelines
- Remain calm
- Co-operate
- Establish eye contact, but do not stare
- Speak when spoken to
- Observe and gather information about the hostage-taker(s) and scene
Hostage/abduction incidents will be handled by the Police.
